頭文字を並べ替えると、
手紙の文章の内容に反した警告文が浮かび上がる。
紘子は実の両親を亡くし、
母親の知り合いの女性に
引き取られて育てられた。
しかし、養母宛てに実の父親が
紘子を返してくれと懇願する
手紙の束を発見し、
両親が亡くなったのは
嘘だったと気付いた。
紘子は養母に隠れて
父親と文通を始めた。
結婚が決まった紘子は
父親とヴァージンロードを
一緒に歩きたいと、
育ての母親に内緒で
父親に会うために京都に
向かっているのだという。
紘子宛ての手紙にも
父親に会わないよう
警告するイラスト暗号が描かれていた。
久能は父親の暴力に苦しむ
母親が父親に悟られないよう
メッセージを送っていると推測する。
久能は後ろの座席に座る
中年女性に声をかける。
彼女は養母の美樹谷サキで
こっそり紘子のあとをつけていた。
サキは、暴力をふるう父親は
既に亡くなり、返事を書いているのは
精神を病んだ母親だと明かす。
二人は京都駅で降りるが、
久能はサキを呼び止め、
ひとつだけ不明だった暗号から
サキと母親が父親を殺し、
母親は病んだのではと言う。
だがサキは答えをはぐらかし、
紘子に続いて新幹線を降りていく。
