主人公であるシングルマザーの恋愛小説家・水無瀬碧役を菅野美穂さん、これまで恋愛のきっかけがなかったしっかり者のオタク娘・水無瀬空役を浜辺美波さんが演じてくれます。

Ｑ：お二人がお会いしてみての印象は？ 会う前と今で変わりましたか？
菅野：浜辺さんはイメージ通りでした！ 真面目で話しやすくて、とても助かっています。親子ゲンカのシーンが楽しみになりました。2人で息を合わせることが必要になると思うので、お互いに意識しつつできたらいいなと思います。
浜辺：菅野さんというと、みんなを笑顔にしてしまうような素敵な雰囲気を持っていらっしゃる印象があったのですが、それは変わらなかったです。そして実際に隣でお話をされたり、セリフを言っているのを聞いていると、声がすごく素敵だなと思いました。低音が心地いいので、生で聞けて優越感があります（笑）。
Ｑ：脚本を読んでの感想は？
菅野：北川悦吏子さんの書かれるセリフは、音符をまとっているんじゃないかと思うほどイキイキしていていると思います。「、」があえてなかったり、「耳で聞いたことある！」という響きが、脚本にうつされていると感じました。脚本の雰囲気を大切にしながら演じられたらいいなと思っています。
浜辺：クスリと笑えるようなセリフやシーンがとても多くて、楽しく読んでいます。碧さんのセリフは、言い回しが面白かったり、視聴者の皆さんにも「わかる！」と思ってもらえるものが多いのではと感じています。親子の関係性もリアルで、温度を感じる脚本だと思いました。
Ｑ：共演者の方の印象は？
菅野：川上洋平さんは初めてのテレビドラマだとおっしゃっていましたが、すごく自然でした。北川さんが書かれる男性の描写で、女子が見てキュンとするようなところ……例えば困っているような顔など、アーティストとしての川上さんとは違う一面が引き出されているんじゃないかなと思います。
沢村一樹さんは事務所の先輩でもあり、さすがの安心感です(笑)。岡田健史さんは、“チャラ軽”とそうでない部分の二面性がある役で、そこも楽しみだと思います。有田哲平さんはね……内緒です！（笑）
浜辺：昨日、沢村さんもおっしゃっていたんですが、私たち親子のおうちも、沢村さん達がいらっしゃるたい焼き屋さんも、それぞれの家族の温かさや雰囲気が、ちゃんと出来上がってると感じました。
それから今回、男性キャストが皆さん背が高くてスタイルが良くて、すごい現場だなって（笑）。ふせえりさんや福原遥ちゃんなど、ご一緒するのが2度目の方も何人かいらっしゃって、一緒のシーンを楽しみにしています！
