第5話は、厚生労働省の官僚・須賀勇蔵（児玉頼信さん）が、腹部大動脈りゅう破裂で死亡し、体内からモスキートペアンが見つかるんです。
須賀は5年前に松河総合病院で大腸がん手術を受けており、ペアンはその際に放置されたものとみなされたんです。思わぬ形であぶり出された5年前の医療ミス疑惑が、一つの未解決事件にも光を当てる。
実は手術の1週間後、同院の放射線技師・中尾勲（町井祥真さん）が刺殺される事件も起こっていたんです。当時、警察が手掛かりにしたのは中尾が最期に残した一文字の血文字の「も」だった。捜査は思いのほか難航し、事件は未解決になっていた・・・という展開だったんです。

5年前、強盗殺人事件で将棋棋士の父・佐田（足立理）を亡くした彩子（久保田紗友）が、元後援会長の山井（長谷川初範）と、朋（波瑠）や理沙（鈴木京香）らの元を訪れる。事件で盗まれた将棋の駒がネットオークションに出品され、すぐ取り消されたという。駒は17年前の対局で佐田がライバルの西川（木瀬哲弥）に勝利して贈呈された駒職人・正村（小野武彦）による名品。一方で西川はその対局の夜に、人を殺し失踪していて・・・

参議院議員・唐木田の秘書を務める望が自宅で殺され、高校のバスケットボール部を扱った番組を途中から録画したDVDがデッキに残っていた。朋（波瑠）は同部コーチ・片山が殺された3年前の事件が未解決だと言及。草加（遠藤憲一）が番組を突き止め、その映像から国木田（谷原章介）は望も同校関係者と気付く。一方、理沙（鈴木京香）は唐木田と同校のつながりを発見する。
バスケ部の顧問の先生はしゃべっても、見た目もとっても怪しい感じはありましたね。ですが、犯人はてっきり国語教師の藤沢先生（高梨 臨さん）だと思ってしまいました・・・
